There is a common nightmare in the nights of every true traveler: the suitcase. Throughout human history we have asked ourself the famous question: “How can I fit everything in?”. Well, we want to help you in solving this old enigma with our list of golden rules easy to follow: discover with us what to bring with you on your trip and how to pack in a perfect way.
First rule – everything on the bed
This is the first thing to do: put all the clothes that you want to bring with you on the bed. Organize them this way: on one side t-shirts, on the other underwear and socks, pants and trousers, and finally shoes. Seeing everything on your bed will help you understand what to take on your trip, what is still missing and how to organize your luggage (hand or cabin, it doesn’t matter) the best way.
Second rule – a multilayered luggage
Now it’s time to start to fill up your suitcase! Begin with clothes hard to crumple, like sweaters and jeans, then move to t-shirts and dresses, and finally organize shirts and scarves. Fill up the empty spaces between clothes and shoes with underwear and socks, so you will save some space for something extra! A small tip: upholster each piece of clothes with tissue paper, it should help avoiding wrinkles.
Third rule – a pair of shoes for each season
Now let’s talk about shoes: if you’re not traveling to some exotic beach or a cold mountain, the best thing to do is carrying with you different options: don’t forget to bring comfortable shoes to walk around the city and a pair of elegant ones for your nightlife adventures. If you are traveling to a rainy country like England or northern Spain, don’t forget a pair of waterproof boots to keep your feet dry. Put the bulky shoes in the cabin luggage!
Fourth rule – telephone, sockets and chargers
Let’s talk about technology now: remember to bring with you an adapter for electric sockets: if you are traveling abroad you could find out that there are different sockets and you could not be able to charge your phones, camera or any other electric device. Bring with you also a portable phone charger, so you will not get without battery while you are out of your hotel or apartment. Last, don’t forget to photocopy or scan and print your ID/passport, in case you will get your wallet stolen or lost.
Fifth rule – the magic bag
No matter if you travel by train, bus or airplane: it’s always better if you carry with you a small bag or a fanny pack where to put all the most important things: keys, wallet, travel papers (like train tickets or boarding passes), photo camera, medicines and other precious items. This way you will keep an eye on all the most important stuff and you won’t have to unpack your suitcase searching for them when you need it.
Now the last step, the hardest one: close the suitcase! If you are not able to do it, that means that it’s really too much full: leave at home the hair-dryer and towels (and other objects that you can find in the hotel or in the apartment), wear the most bulky pieces on plane…ready? Have a good trip!
